Established in 1993, the African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) is a pan-African multilateral trade finance institution headquartered in Cairo, Egypt. Its primary mandate is to finance and promote intra- and extra-African trade, aiming to transform Africa's trade structure, accelerate industrialization, and boost economic expansion across the continent. Afreximbank offers a comprehensive range of financial products and services, including trade finance, project and export development, and advisory services. The bank has evolved into a group entity comprising the Bank, its impact fund subsidiary called the Fund for Export Development Africa (FEDA), and its insurance management subsidiary, AfrexInsure. As of December 2023, Afreximbank's total assets and guarantees stood at over US$37.3 billion, with shareholder funds amounting to US$6.1 billion. The bank has investment-grade ratings assigned by GCR (international scale) (A), Moody’s (Baa1), Japan Credit Rating Agency (JCR) (A-), and Fitch (BBB).
