Investor Details Founded: 1986

AIFI, the Italian Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Debt Association, was established in May 1986 to develop, coordinate, and represent, at an institutional level, the players active in the Italian private equity and venture capital markets. The association brings together financial institutions that professionally invest in unlisted companies, with an active involvement in their development, or that offer flexible debt instruments tailored to the needs of individual companies. Additionally, AIFI unites a significant network of institutions, institutional investors, and professionals interested in the development of the industry. Beyond representing its members and serving as a reference point for key analyses and research on alternative investments, AIFI plays a crucial role in the cultural dissemination of financial markets.

In 2014, AIFI expanded its membership to include private debt funds, changing its name to the Italian Private Equity, Venture Capital and Private Debt Association. This extension aimed to serve the new operators by leveraging the experiences already consolidated in private equity and to institutionally represent the emerging sector. The association's activities include training events, networking opportunities, and the dissemination of market data and performance analyses. AIFI also collaborates with various stakeholders to promote the development and coordination of risk capital investment activities in Italy and Europe.

AIFI's members include 183 entities as of 2024, encompassing a diverse range of sizes and activities. The private equity and venture capital portfolio comprises nearly 2,400 companies, while the private debt sector has invested in over 600 companies in the past five years. The association's efforts contribute to the growth and professionalization of the private capital market in Italy, supporting the development of unlisted companies and fostering economic growth through alternative investments.
