Alantra Energy Transition Fund

Alantra Energy Transition Fund, also known as Klima, is a private equity fund dedicated to investing in companies that facilitate the global transition to sustainable energy. The fund primarily targets technology-driven businesses in sectors such as digital energy, energy efficiency, low-carbon solutions, renewable energy technologies, sustainable transportation, smart grid, energy storage, and power markets. With a geographical focus on Europe and North America, Klima seeks to support innovative companies that are pivotal in decarbonizing the energy system.

The fund's investment strategy involves making initial investments of €8–12 million in rounds larger than €10 million, with the potential to increase up to €21 million per portfolio company, including follow-on investments. Klima is managed by Alantra Energy Transition SGEIC SA, a subsidiary of Alantra Asset Management, and is supported by prominent institutional investors, including the European Investment Fund, the Canadian Pension Fund, and Axis ICO. The fund is classified as an Article 9 fund under the EU Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), emphasizing its commitment to impact investing and sustainable development.

Klima's portfolio includes companies such as maxwell+spark, a Dutch firm specializing in lithium-ion battery solutions for industrial logistics; Echandia, a Swedish supplier of maritime battery systems; and SunRoof, a company focused on decentralized and integrated solar solutions. These investments reflect Klima's dedication to supporting high-growth companies that drive innovation in the energy transition sector. The fund's approach combines financial performance with positive environmental impact, aligning with global efforts to achieve a net-zero energy system.
