Archangels, established in 1992, is the longest continuously operating business angel syndicate in the world. Based in Edinburgh, Scotland, it comprises over 100 investor members and typically invests more than £10 million annually in early-stage Scottish companies. The syndicate focuses on innovative technology and life sciences sectors, including software development, biopharmaceuticals, and bionics.

Archangels seeks companies that are operationally based and registered in Scotland, with high growth potential and global application. Investment sizes range from £50,000 to £2 million, with a preference for £250,000 to £500,000 per deal. The syndicate has a history of co-investing alongside partners such as Scottish Enterprise and the British Business Bank.

Over its history, Archangels has invested approximately £91.5 million in equity and loan finance on behalf of over 200 investors into 80 companies across Scotland. The syndicate has achieved £100.1 million in cash returns through exits and dividends, with a current book value of active investments of £38.9 million. Notable portfolio companies include CALCiViS, NCTech, Optoscribe, Reactec, and ZoneFox.
