Battle Born Venture

Battle Born Venture is Nevada's state venture capital program, established in 2013 to support local entrepreneurs in their fundraising efforts. The program focuses on investing in high-potential Nevada-based startups, aiming to keep capital within the state and foster local economic growth. Over the years, it has co-invested with prestigious corporations and high-profile venture capital firms, celebrating multiple successful exits.

The program's investment strategy is sector-agnostic, though it excludes sectors such as gambling, alcohol, cannabis, firearms, real estate, investment firms, and lenders. Battle Born Venture typically invests in startups with recurring revenue and a Nevada business license. It participates in deals ranging from $200,000 to $20 million in total size, investing up to half of a total round, with the ultimate size dependent on the company's stage. The program utilizes equity and equity-like deal structures, such as convertible and SAFE notes, and does not lead rounds but co-invests with professional investors like venture capital firms, corporate venture capital arms, and incorporated angel funds.

Since its inception, Battle Born Venture has invested in a diverse array of sectors, including software, consumer brands, healthcare, fintech, fire retardant, crop protection, and safety tech. The program has co-invested alongside firms like Greycroft Partners and seed-funded spinouts from Nevada’s research universities. It has celebrated five successful exits, demonstrating its commitment to fostering a thriving startup ecosystem within Nevada.
