BMO Impact Investment Fund

The BMO Impact Investment Fund is a sustainability-focused investment fund established by the Bank of Montreal (BMO). It aims to invest in companies that offer technologies, products, and solutions driving positive environmental outcomes. The fund is managed as an independent entity connected to the broader BMO platform, enabling it to leverage BMO’s extensive network of clients, partners, and experts.

The fund focuses on areas such as renewable energy and storage, industrial and supply chain efficiency, carbon capture, utilization and storage, food and agtech, materials, reforestation, waste management, and risk software. Its investment criteria include minority equity investments, typically ranging from 5% to 20%, targeting late venture capital, growth, and private equity stages. The total allocation over the life of the investment is between US$10 million and US$30 million. The fund primarily focuses on North America, with consideration of opportunities in Europe. Impact areas include greenhouse gas reduction, resource efficiency, waste reduction, and food and agriculture.
