Investor Details Founded: 2011

Established in 2011, Business Growth Fund (BGF) is a UK-based private equity firm dedicated to supporting the growth of small and mid-sized businesses across the United Kingdom and Ireland. BGF offers long-term equity investments, taking minority, non-controlling shareholdings in investee companies. With a network of 15 offices, BGF has invested over £4 billion in more than 600 companies, completing over 200 exits. Approximately 75% of its investments are in businesses located outside London and the South East of England.

BGF's investment strategy focuses on providing patient capital to innovative firms led by ambitious entrepreneurs aiming to build large-scale businesses. The firm invests in a diverse range of sectors, including deep tech, life sciences, private growth businesses, and small-cap quoted companies. BGF has been recognized as the most active growth capital investor in the UK and Ireland, deploying £2.3 billion between 2020 and 2024. In 2025, it announced a commitment to invest more than £3 billion in UK businesses over the next five years, including at least £300 million to female-led businesses through the Invest in Women Taskforce.

BGF's leadership includes CEO Andy Gregory, who joined the firm in 2012 and became CEO in 2022. With over 30 years of experience in private equity, Gregory has held senior roles at Livingbridge, Bridgepoint, and Royal Bank Development Capital. He also serves on the Board of the Invest in Women Taskforce and NatWest’s Mid Market Council, and chairs the BGF Foundation, the firm's independent charitable arm supporting initiatives that improve the lives of young people across the UK.
