Coastal Villages Region Fund

Coastal Villages Region Fund (CVRF) is a non-profit organization committed to promoting sustainable economic development in western Alaska. Serving over 9,300 residents across 20 communities along the Alaskan coastline, CVRF focuses on creating long-term opportunities that empower individuals to achieve financial security through active participation in the seafood industry. By owning and operating vessels that harvest pollock, crab, and cod, CVRF generates income that is reinvested into community programs and services, thereby supporting regional economic growth and self-sufficiency.

CVRF's investment strategy centers on balancing growth in commercial fishing with the sustainable development of its member communities. The organization employs a strategic, adaptable, and long-term approach to managing Bering Sea seafood resources, ensuring that its investments lead to viable jobs, infrastructure, and tools that benefit the region. This approach aligns with the Community Development Quota (CDQ) program, which aims to provide coastal communities with the opportunity to participate in the modern, sustainable, and lucrative commercial fisheries of the Bering Sea.

Through its various programs, CVRF offers residents opportunities to work in positions at community offices, salmon and halibut processing plants, fishing tenders, freight barges, crab boats, longline vessels, and on catcher processors. Additionally, CVRF invests in the future of communities by providing opportunities to build local wealth, including youth employment programs, scholarships, internships, and housing initiatives. These efforts are designed to cultivate self-determination and economic independence among residents, ensuring lasting prosperity for future generations.
