Cody Nystrom

Cody Nystrom is a Managing Director at SJF Ventures, a venture capital firm investing in high-growth companies creating a healthier, smarter, and cleaner future. She joined SJF in 2007 and leads the firm's health and wellness investment practice. Cody currently represents SJF on the boards of Ellipsis Health, Take Command Health, PierianDx, mPulse Mobile, TemperPack, Solera Health, Validic, and Cecelia Health. She previously served on the boards of Versify Solutions, Community Energy, Inc., Vital Farms, and CleanScapes. Cody also serves on advising committees for the Center for Innovative Technology and the Virginia Solar Energy Development and Energy Storage Authority.

Before joining SJF Ventures, Cody was with Ewing Bemiss & Co., a middle-market investment bank based in Richmond, Virginia, providing M&A and financial advisory services to companies in the energy and healthcare services sectors. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of Virginia with a BS in Systems and Information Engineering and a minor in Business. In her free time, she enjoys keeping up with her two kids in Richmond, Virginia, and opportunistically finding time to play tennis, cook gourmet vegetarian meals, and plan travel adventures.

Cody's investment focus includes seed to growth-stage deals, primarily in the health and education technology sectors. Her portfolio companies address various aspects of healthcare, including mental health, health reimbursement software, clinical genomics, mobile healthcare engagement, sustainable packaging solutions, preventative and community health networks, mobile health data platforms, and clinician coaching solutions for chronic conditions. She has a strong track record of supporting companies that drive positive societal impact through innovative solutions in these industries.
