Country Roads Angel Network

Country Roads Angel Network (CRAN) is West Virginia's first accredited angel investment network, established in 2019 to bridge the funding gap for local entrepreneurs. The network comprises 32 active accredited investors committed to providing both capital and mentorship to startups across all 55 counties in the state. CRAN focuses on early-stage ventures, particularly in the technology and healthcare sectors, aiming to foster innovation and economic growth within West Virginia.

CRAN's investment strategy involves evaluating and investing on a deal-by-deal basis, with individual contributions typically ranging from $10,000 to $100,000 per startup. This approach allows each investor to choose their level of involvement, with total deal sizes often totaling between $50,000 and $360,000. Beyond financial support, CRAN members actively mentor entrepreneurs, assisting with business model refinement, capital structuring, marketing strategies, and facilitating introductions to potential customers and partners.

Since its inception, CRAN has invested over $1 million in six Mountain State companies, including Iconic Air, Parthian Battery Solutions LLC, Endolumik, Inc., Cox Telecom, Mountain Steer Meat Company, and O Pioneer. These investments have leveraged nearly $10 million in additional capital, contributing to job creation and economic development in West Virginia. CRAN continues to support a diverse pipeline of new businesses, reflecting the creativity and drive of local entrepreneurs.
