Investor Details

DoCoMo Capital was established on July 1, 2005, as the venture capital subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO, focusing on investments in mobile and wireless technologies. The firm was headquartered in Palo Alto, California, and operated as a wholly owned subsidiary of NTT DOCOMO, Inc., a leading Japanese mobile operator. DoCoMo Capital's mission was to introduce leading-edge mobile services based on advanced technologies to NTT DOCOMO's extensive customer base.

The firm primarily invested in early-stage to late-stage venture companies, with a committed capital of $100 million over a 10-year period. Its investment focus encompassed mobile services, telecommunications, and technology sectors, with a geographical emphasis on the United States and Japan. Notable portfolio companies included Cooliris, Couchbase, Evernote, Fab.com, HighlightCam, Swype, TuneWiki, and Sigfox.

In October 2015, DoCoMo Capital merged with DoCoMo Innovations, another NTT DOCOMO subsidiary, to enhance collaboration and innovation in mobile technology. Following the merger, the combined entity continued to operate under the name DoCoMo Innovations, focusing on open innovation and business development in the mobile industry. As of now, DoCoMo Capital is no longer active as a separate entity, and its investment activities have been integrated into DoCoMo Innovations.
