EBRD AgVenture

EBRD AgVenture is a venture capital fund established by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) to support innovative agribusinesses in emerging markets. The fund focuses on early-stage companies developing technologies and solutions that enhance sustainability and efficiency in the agrifood sector. By providing financial backing and advisory services, EBRD AgVenture aims to foster growth and competitiveness in the agribusiness industry.

The fund's investment strategy targets startups in countries where the EBRD operates, including Hungary, Serbia, Turkey, and Egypt. EBRD AgVenture seeks companies with an annual turnover of up to €1 million and a Technology Readiness Level (TRL) between 7 and 9. The fund offers tailored advisory support worth up to €80,000 through the EBRD’s Star Venture programme, along with grants and networking opportunities to accelerate business growth.

Since its inception, EBRD AgVenture has been instrumental in identifying and nurturing high-potential startups in the agrifood sector. Notable winners of the EBRD AgVenture startup competition include Proofminder, Green Growth, and Algebra Intelligence, which have received grants, mentorship, and advisory support to scale their innovative solutions. The fund continues to play a pivotal role in transforming agrifood systems by promoting responsible private investment and sustainable practices.
