Fondo Rilancio Startup is an Italian government-backed fund established to support the growth and development of innovative startups and SMEs across Italy. The fund aims to revitalize the entrepreneurial ecosystem by co-investing in the capital of these companies alongside regulated or qualified investors. It focuses on sectors such as technology, healthcare, consumer goods, energy, and financial services, among others. The fund primarily targets early-stage investments, including seed, early stage, and growth stages, with a geographical focus on Italy. The maximum investment per company is capped at €1 million, with the fund investing up to four times the amount invested by the co-investors. This initiative is part of a broader effort to bolster the Italian economy by fostering innovation and supporting the recovery of businesses affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fund operates under the management of CDP Venture Capital SGR, a subsidiary of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, and is part of the Fondo Nazionale Innovazione. It was established with a budget of €200 million, allocated by the Italian Ministry of Economic Development. The fund's strategy involves co-investing in innovative startups and SMEs that demonstrate potential for growth and development. Eligible companies must have their legal headquarters in Italy and conduct their activities or development programs within the country. The fund's investments are intended to strengthen the capital structure of these companies, facilitating their access to credit and supporting medium to long-term development projects.

Fondo Rilancio Startup aims to foster the presence of Italian companies in international markets by encouraging aggregation processes among small and medium-sized enterprises within the same sector or industrial district. It also supports generational and entrepreneurial turnover through management buyouts (MBO), management buy-ins (MBI), and workers buyouts (WBO). Additionally, the fund facilitates the approach of companies to financial markets, both equity and debt, assisting them in the listing process.
