Footwork

Footwork is an early-stage venture capital firm that leads and co-leads Series A and Seed rounds for companies demonstrating early signs of product-market fit. The firm primarily invests in consumer technology and the consumerization of enterprise technology sectors. Footwork launched in April 2021 with a $175 million Fund I and began investing its $225 million Fund II in 2025. As of Q4 2025, Footwork has invested in 22 companies, including Table22, Cradlewise, Trendsi, Portex, Heard, Felt, Power, ReflexAI, WindBorne, Watershed, Tracksuit, Honeydew, Benable, GPTZero, Elicit, Confido, Waldo, Protege, Anything, and several that are not yet announced.

The firm's equal partnership combines world-class investing and operating experience. Co-founder Mike Smith was President and COO at Stitch Fix, from idea to IPO and beyond, and serves on the public company boards of MillerKnoll and Ulta Beauty. Co-founder Nikhil Basu Trivedi was Managing Director at Shasta Ventures, where he invested in companies such as Athelas, Brigit, Canva, ClassDojo, Color Health, Frame.io, Imperfect Foods, Lattice, and The Farmer's Dog.

Footwork operates out of its office in the Dogpatch neighborhood of San Francisco, California. The firm's investment strategy focuses on leading and co-leading Series A and Seed rounds for companies with early signs of product-market fit, particularly in consumer technology and the consumerization of enterprise technology sectors. Footwork is inspired by founders and is dedicated to collaborating with teams building the next generation of category-defining companies.
