Foundamental is a venture capital firm specializing in early-stage investments within the construction and mining technology sectors. Backed by some of the world's largest construction and materials companies, the firm offers deep sector knowledge across markets, enabling them to recognize global patterns and apply them locally. Their investment strategy involves leading initial institutional rounds, with first checks ranging from $500,000 to $5 million.

The firm focuses on five verticals: supply chains and logistics, construction, renovation, blue-collar workforce and robotics, and 3D and design. In December 2022, Foundamental closed an $85 million fund targeting early-stage construction tech startups globally, building on the success of its inaugural $65 million fund from 2019. The firm has seen four exits and one unicorn over the past three years, with seven of its 64 investments achieving a $100 million-plus run-rate, and 81% going on to raise subsequent funding. Their focus includes emerging regions such as Latin America and historically neglected verticals impacting housing, skilled labor, and public/private infrastructure.
