Georgetown Angel Investor Network

The Georgetown Angel Investor Network (GAIN) is the official investor network of Georgetown University, dedicated to supporting alumni-affiliated startups. By connecting investors with innovative, early-stage companies, GAIN fosters an entrepreneurial relationship among alumni, current faculty, and investors. This collaboration provides investors access to promising startups, while entrepreneurs benefit from smart capital and mentorship.

GAIN operates in partnership with university-wide entrepreneurial efforts, including the Georgetown Entrepreneurship Initiative in the McDonough School of Business. As an alumni volunteer-run organization overseen by the Georgetown University Alumni Association, GAIN remains committed to the university’s Jesuit values and mission. Launched in early 2019, the network has established an active alumni investor group and robust deal flow, regularly seeking new investors, budding startups, and passionate volunteers.

The network focuses on early-stage investments, typically in companies valued between $3 million and $8 million, raising between $500,000 and $2 million. GAIN's investment strategy emphasizes capital-efficient, early-stage growth companies operating in large and/or growing markets with barriers to entry. The network seeks startups with impressive teams, demonstrated proof of concept, and a clear revenue strategy, prioritizing those with revenue traction and a strong founder and senior management team.
