Investor Details

Established in 2008 through a partnership between Crédit Agricole and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation is dedicated to combating poverty and inequality by fostering financial inclusion and supporting social impact entrepreneurship. The Foundation provides investments, loans, and technical assistance to microfinance institutions and social enterprises across approximately 40 countries, with a portfolio exceeding €90 million. It primarily focuses on institutions serving women and rural populations, reaching over 7 million beneficiaries, 93% of whom are women and 84% reside in rural areas.

The Foundation's approach encompasses four main activities: funding, investment, technical assistance, and investment fund advisory. It operates as an investor, lender, technical assistance coordinator, and fund advisor, financing and supporting microfinance institutions, enterprises, and projects that promote inclusive finance and rural development globally. The Foundation's mission aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly in promoting gender equality and reducing inequalities.

Through its initiatives, the Grameen Crédit Agricole Foundation has become a significant player in microfinance, granting over €280 million in loans to more than 120 microfinance institutions and social enterprises in around 40 countries.
