Hatch Blue is a global venture capital firm dedicated to investing exclusively in aquaculture and alternative seafood technologies. Founded in late 2017 by co-founders Carsten Krome, Georg Baunach, and Wayne Murphy, the firm aims to revolutionize seafood production through technological innovation. Since its inception, Hatch Blue has invested in over 60 companies, run multiple accelerator cohorts, and established offices in Hawaii, Norway, Singapore, and Ireland. The firm's mission is to achieve the least-possible footprint of farmed and alternative seafood for the benefit of oceans, terrestrial ecosystems, and future generations.

Hatch Blue operates through four business units: Investments, Consulting, Programs, and Media Marketing. Its investment strategy focuses on early-stage ventures in aquaculture feed, health, genetics, technology, and production. The firm manages several funds, including the €85 million Blue Revolution Fund, which closed in late 2024, and the Hatch Accelerator Fund II. These funds support a range of innovative technologies and solutions within the aquaculture and alternative seafood sectors, with a geographic reach that extends worldwide.

The firm's consulting unit covers all aspects of aquaculture and blue carbon, from industry benchmarking to due diligence support and technology innovation insight, with more than 100 projects globally. Hatch Blue also acquired The Fish Site from Benchmark Holdings in 2019, providing up-to-date industry news and in-depth features, as well as marketing and branding services for companies across the aquaculture sector.
