IFC Venture Capital Group

The International Finance Corporation (IFC) is a member of the World Bank Group, dedicated to fostering private sector development in developing countries. As the largest global development institution focused on the private sector, IFC operates in over 100 countries, leveraging its capital, expertise, and influence to create markets and opportunities in developing nations. In fiscal year 2024, IFC committed a record $56 billion to private companies and financial institutions in developing countries, aiming to end extreme poverty and boost shared prosperity.

IFC's Venture Capital Group invests in early-stage companies across various sectors, including technology, healthcare, agriculture, education, energy, and financial services. The group focuses on high-impact sectors such as Fintech, Health Tech, Agtech, Climate Tech, EdTech, Enterprise Technology, e-Logistics, and Mobility. With a portfolio of over 175 tech companies and more than 120 investments in VC funds, seed funds, and accelerators, IFC has committed $3 billion in venture capital to date.

Through initiatives like the Startup Catalyst Program, IFC supports incubators, accelerators, and seed funds that assist early-stage startups in emerging markets. The organization also launched a $225 million platform to strengthen venture capital ecosystems in Africa, the Middle East, Central Asia, and Pakistan, aiming to invest in early-stage companies addressing development challenges through technological innovations. This platform focuses on sectors such as climate, healthcare, education, agriculture, and e-commerce, with the goal of building transformative tech ecosystems in these regions.
