Investor Details

Established in 1961, the Industrial Bank of Korea (IBK) is a state-owned financial institution headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. It was founded to promote small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by providing efficient credit systems and financial support. Over the years, IBK has expanded its services to include retail banking, private banking, and wealth management, catering to a diverse clientele both domestically and internationally.

In December 2023, IBK established IBK Venture Investment, a venture capital subsidiary with an initial investment of 100 billion won (approximately $77 million). This initiative marks the first time the government-run bank has launched a venture capital firm, aiming to support startups in their early stages and address the financial support void in the new technology sector. The subsidiary focuses on providing substantial support to startups, particularly in the technology sector, aligning with government policies to foster innovation and economic growth.

IBK's investment strategy emphasizes supporting emerging companies across various industries, including technology, healthcare, and manufacturing. The bank's venture capital arm seeks to invest in companies at different stages, from seed to late-stage, with investment sizes ranging from $1 million to $50 million. This approach reflects IBK's commitment to fostering innovation and economic development by providing financial support to promising startups and emerging companies.
