InnoBio

InnoBio is a French venture capital fund established in 2009, focusing on early- and mid-stage investments in biotechnology and medtech sectors. The fund is managed by Bpifrance, the French national investment bank, and has attracted investments from major pharmaceutical companies, including Sanofi, GSK, Roche, Novartis, Pfizer, Lilly, Ipsen, Takeda, and Boehringer-Ingelheim. InnoBio aims to support the development of promising French life sciences startups by providing equity investments that facilitate their growth and potential market entry.

The fund's investment strategy encompasses a wide range of therapeutic areas, such as oncology, rare diseases, cardiovascular conditions, diabetes, neurology, ophthalmology, and infectious diseases. InnoBio seeks to invest in companies that are developing innovative products and services, with a particular emphasis on those nearing or in early clinical development stages. The fund typically takes minority equity stakes and can lead or co-lead investment rounds, aiming to bring these companies to clinical proof of concept.

In 2019, InnoBio launched its successor fund, InnoBio 2, with an initial closing at €135 million and a target size of €200 million. This fund continues the mission of supporting the most promising biotechnology startups in France, investing up to €14 million alongside other venture capital firms in Series A and B rounds, with the ability to participate in follow-on financing rounds. InnoBio 2's focus remains on advancing innovative life sciences companies through strategic investments that drive growth and development in the sector.
