Maharashtra Defence and Aerospace Venture Fund

The Maharashtra Defence and Aerospace Venture Fund (MDAVF) is a SEBI-registered Category II Alternative Investment Fund managed by IDBI Capital Markets & Securities Ltd. The fund is dedicated to promoting sustainable enterprises in the defence, aerospace, and allied sectors within Maharashtra, India. It aims to support innovative companies that contribute to the technological advancement and self-reliance of India's defence and aerospace industries.

MDAVF has committed approximately ₹480 crore across 27 micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) specializing in areas such as missile systems, aerospace technologies, naval systems, and electronic warfare. The fund's investments have led to the creation of over 3,000 direct jobs and an estimated 10,000 to 15,000 indirect jobs across Maharashtra. Notably, 13 of the 27 MDAVF-backed companies are led by women promoters and entrepreneurs.

Since its inception, MDAVF has successfully executed full and partial exits from 12 companies, realizing divestment proceeds of around ₹281 crore. These exits include companies like Cyronics Innovation Labs Private Limited and JSR Dynamics Private Limited, reflecting the fund's commitment to fostering technological innovation and self-reliance in India's defence and aerospace sectors. The fund's strategic investments align with the government's 'Make in India' initiative, prioritizing the development of indigenous capabilities in defence production.
