New Mexico Community Capital

New Mexico Community Capital (NMCC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2004, committed to fostering economic sovereignty and sustainability within Indigenous communities in New Mexico and the broader Southwest region. NMCC achieves this mission by providing tailored mentorship, financial literacy, digital skills programs, and specialized technical assistance to tribes and tribal enterprises. Their initiatives are culturally appropriate, peer-to-peer based, digitally focused, and results-driven, encompassing programs such as the Native Entrepreneur in Residence, Financial & Business Basics, and Digital Media and Marketing Basics.

NMCC operates a 'Double Bottom Line' venture capital fund, investing in New Mexico-based companies that can deliver market-rate returns while creating social and economic improvements in the regions where they operate. Their investment strategy focuses on sectors critical to basic human needs, including water, energy, food/agriculture, and health—areas where New Mexico holds a competitive leadership position. Since its inception, NMCC has invested over $10.6 million in New Mexico companies, leading to the creation or retention of 261 jobs and providing specialized business expertise to over 500 small businesses.

In addition to its investment activities, NMCC offers capacity-building services distinct from its investment operations. These services range from finance and marketing to product development, aiming to help businesses develop clear visions and growth plans. The organization emphasizes partnerships with Native American tribes and Pueblos, recognizing the enormous opportunity and leadership they offer in building future economies.
