As of 30 September 2025, NESF's portfolio comprises 101 operating assets with a total installed capacity of 939 MW across the UK and Italy, and a gross asset value of £1,029 million. The company's investment objective is to provide shareholders with attractive risk-adjusted returns, principally in the form of regular dividends, by investing in a diversified portfolio of solar energy and energy storage infrastructure assets. NESF's long-term cash flows are largely inflation-linked via UK government subsidies.

NESF's strategy focuses on expanding and strengthening its portfolio in line with its investment policy, enhancing growth and diversification through the introduction of energy storage and international solar assets. The company aims to consistently achieve operational outperformance through active asset management and pursue continuous improvement in managing operating costs. NESF is committed to contributing towards a net-zero sustainable future and helping mitigate climate change, while enhancing local biodiversity in the areas where it operates. The company also seeks to provide a positive social impact and actively engage with and support the communities located close to its solar assets.

NESF has been recognized for its commitment to sustainability, being awarded the London Stock Exchange’s Green Economy Mark, which acknowledges that the fund derives more than 50% of its revenues from services contributing to environmental objectives such as climate change mitigation and adaptation, waste and pollution reduction, and the circular economy. The company has also been designated a Guernsey Green Fund by the Guernsey Financial Services Commission. NESF's investment manager, NextEnergy Capital, has been active in solar development, construction, and ownership across multiple jurisdictions since its founding in 2007, managing over 530 individual solar plants with a capacity exceeding 4 GW across its institutional funds.

NESF's portfolio includes investments in various countries, including the UK, Italy, the US, Portugal, Spain, Chile, Poland, Greece, and India. The company has also expanded its operations to other countries such as Canada, Romania, Cameroon, Colombia, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Sri Lanka, Syria, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, Yemen, and Zimbabwe.
