Phaistos Investment Fund

Phaistos Investment Fund is a venture capital fund established in 2021, focusing on investments in businesses involved in 5G-related research and development in Greece. The fund's primary objective is to support the growth of innovative companies operating in sectors such as transport and logistics, manufacturing, public goods and utilities, health, tourism, information, and media. By leveraging Greece's 5G infrastructure, Phaistos aims to foster technological advancement and economic growth within the country.

Managed by 5G Ventures S.A., a subsidiary of the Hellenic Corporation of Assets and Participations S.A. (HCAP), Phaistos Investment Fund has a capital pool of approximately €100 million. The fund's investors include the Hellenic Development Bank of Investments, Deutsche Telekom, the Latsco Family Office, and the Daskalopoulos family office. Phaistos offers a comprehensive support package to its investees, including access to reserved 5G spectrum frequencies for pilot projects and partnerships with state-owned enterprises, facilitating the development and testing of new technologies.

Since its inception, Phaistos has made significant investments in various sectors. Notably, in June 2022, the fund invested in Matternet Inc., a U.S.-based company specializing in urban drone transportation, leading to the establishment of Matternet Europe in Greece. In September 2022, Phaistos invested in OQ Technology, a company providing IoT connectivity via Low Earth Orbit satellites, which also established a subsidiary in Greece. These investments underscore Phaistos' commitment to advancing Greece's technological landscape and supporting the growth of innovative enterprises in the 5G era.
