SEB Stiftelsen is the pension foundation of Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken (SEB), established to secure the bank's pension commitments. The foundation's primary objective is to ensure the fulfillment of pension benefits as stipulated in SEB's pension plans, which are based on current collective agreements between the Bankinstitutens Arbetsgivareorganisation and Finansförbundet, or other agreements. The beneficiaries include current and former employees of SEB and its wholly-owned subsidiaries, as well as their surviving dependents, provided the pension commitments are not insured. The foundation operates under the supervision of the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority and the County Administrative Board of Stockholm. Its activities are governed by the Act (1967:531) on the Safeguarding of Pension Commitments and the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority's regulations on pension foundations (FFFS 2019:19). The foundation is registered in Stockholm, Sweden.
The foundation's operations are led by a board consisting of six members. Three members are appointed by the employer, SEB, while the remaining three are beneficiaries of the foundation and hold positions within SEB. The foundation's investment strategy aims to achieve a positive real return over time, employing principles of matching, diversification, and portfolio management. The matching principle ensures that the portfolio is structured to meet the return objectives, while the diversification principle spreads investments across various asset classes, markets, and industries to mitigate the impact of individual negative events. The portfolio principle allows for the inclusion of assets that may individually be considered risky but, as part of the overall portfolio, contribute to meeting the foundation's investment guidelines. The foundation adheres to SEB's policy for sustainable investments in its placements.
Sustainability is a key consideration for SEB Stiftelsen, as it believes that responsible and ethical investment practices not only contribute positively to sustainability issues but also enhance the portfolio's value development. Therefore, the foundation strives to be a responsible and ethical investor, following international conventions. The foundation's disclosure of sustainability-related information complies with the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), in line with the requirements of the EU regulation on sustainability-related disclosures in the financial sector, also known as the Disclosure Regulation. As a financial market participant, the foundation does not offer financial products; thus, sustainability information is provided at the entity level but not for financial products. In its investment commitments, the foundation follows its internal sustainability policy, as decided by its investment committee.
