Investor Details Founded: 2007

Taaleri Bioindustry is a Finnish investment company specializing in sustainable bioindustry projects and companies. It is a subsidiary of Taaleri Plc, a Nordic investment and asset manager with a strong emphasis on renewable energy and alternative investments. Taaleri Bioindustry operates as a private equity firm, channeling capital into businesses that promote the transition from a fossil-based economy to renewable materials and circular business models. The company is a signatory of the UN Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI) and joined the Net Zero Asset Managers initiative in 2021.

The firm's investment strategy focuses on industrial-scale production facilities and companies that can accelerate the scaling of bioindustry production. This includes investments in bio- and recycled fibers, organic fertilizers, functional biomaterials, and recycled materials designed to replace virgin products. Taaleri Bioindustry's first fund, Taaleri Bioindustry I Fund, has raised over EUR 100 million and has made several investments, including in Nordtreat, a producer of bio-based flame retardants, and Finnish Food Factory, a producer of plant-based dairy alternatives.

Taaleri Bioindustry's portfolio also includes Joensuu Biocoal, Europe's largest biocoal production facility, which began operations in 2025. The facility produces 60,000 tonnes of torrefied biomass annually, offering a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels in industries such as steel and cement. The company is committed to supporting the growth of companies that contribute to a sustainable and low-carbon economy, leveraging its expertise and capital to drive positive environmental and societal impacts.
