The BrainTrust Fund

The BrainTrust Fund is a venture capital firm dedicated to investing in early-stage beauty and wellness companies founded by Black entrepreneurs. Co-led by General Partners Kendra Bracken-Ferguson and Lisa Stone, the fund focuses on companies with at least one Black-identifying founder who is a member of BrainTrust Founders Studio and demonstrates repeatable revenues of $1 million or more. The fund targets a wide range of sub-sectors within the beauty and wellness industry, including fragrance, AI, and technology.

The fund's investment strategy emphasizes inclusivity and diversity, aiming to support Black founders in creating and selling products that resonate with a broad consumer base. By focusing on companies that have achieved significant market traction, the BrainTrust Fund seeks to empower entrepreneurs who are leaders in culture and creativity. The fund's portfolio includes investments in companies such as Listener Brands, Inc., the parent company of hair care brands CurlMix and 4COnly, as well as BeautyStat, Thirteen Lune, and Uoma Beauty.

The BrainTrust Fund is anchored by WestRiver Group and includes an accredited investor community that mirrors the demographics of beauty and wellness shoppers. The investor community comprises 77% women and 76% BIPOC members, all of whom are experienced leaders in today's consumer marketplace. This diverse and experienced investor base is committed to supporting the growth and success of Black-founded beauty and wellness brands, contributing to the advancement of economic opportunities within these communities.
