The Footprint Firm is a Copenhagen-based advisory and investment company dedicated to promoting sustainability through climate-positive innovations and sustainable solutions. Founded in 2019, the firm operates at the intersection of business, science, and policy, connecting companies, academia, government institutions, startups, and capital to drive the green transition. The Footprint Firm invests its profits in sustainable startups, working closely with these investments to help them realize their impact potential. The firm has a team of approximately 58 professionals and has been a certified B Corp since May 2022, showcasing its commitment to social and environmental impact. In May 2024, The Footprint Firm launched its first fund, The Footprint Fund I, closing its initial round at DKK 375 million (approximately €50.28 million). This fund focuses on supporting climate-positive innovations and sustainable solutions across various sectors, including energy, food and agriculture, sustainable construction, climate technologies, bio-solutions, and circular economy ventures. The fund is classified as an Article 9 'dark green' fund, adhering to the highest standards of sustainability and focusing on early-stage startups and scale-ups at the pre-seed and seed stages. The Footprint Firm's investment strategy includes ticket sizes between €0.5 million to €2 million per venture. The firm has made over 20 investments to date, partnering with ambitious startups that are based on scalable business models and focused on accelerating the green transition. Notable investments include FoodOp, a Danish foodtech company that received a significant investment to expand into the Swedish market and reduce CO2 emissions in professional kitchens, and Klimate, a climate tech startup that raised €730,000 in a pre-seed round to facilitate the removal of CO2 from the atmosphere. The Footprint Firm's approach combines its sustainability knowledge with strategic expertise, working closely with green startups to scale and realize their full potential.
