The Idea Village

The Idea Village is a New Orleans-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to fostering entrepreneurship and innovation in the Gulf South region. Through its core programs, including IDEAinstitute and VILLAGEx, the organization provides mentorship, educational programming, and access to professional services to help startups scale their ventures. Additionally, The Idea Village co-produces New Orleans Entrepreneur Week (NOEW) and launched the 3rd Coast Venture Summit to connect startups with national investors.

In 2023, The Idea Village launched the Momentum Fund, a $6.7 million venture capital fund designed to invest in standout alumni of the VILLAGEx accelerator program. Backed by leading founders, family offices, and Louisiana Economic Development’s SSBCI program, the fund provides capital to help high-potential startups scale. Eligible VILLAGEx graduates can receive a $100,000 investment within 18 months of completing the program, while the annual IDEApitch winner at New Orleans Entrepreneur Week may receive $250,000. Investments are made at market terms and require companies to secure additional private funding. Though affiliated with The Idea Village, the fund is independently managed, ensuring long-term support for startups while allowing the nonprofit to share in their success.

The Idea Village has supported over 20,000 entrepreneurs, generating more than $1.7 billion in economic impact. Its alumni include successful companies such as Lucid, Levelset, and TurboSquid. By fostering high-growth ventures, The Idea Village is creating jobs and driving economic opportunity in New Orleans and the surrounding region.
