The Shidler Group is a prominent private investment firm specializing in real estate and financial services. Founded in 1972 by Jay H. Shidler, the firm has made debt and equity investments in over 2,000 properties across the United States and Canada. The Shidler Group has also founded and capitalized numerous real estate, financial, and monoline insurance companies, including five NYSE-listed public corporations.

The firm's investment strategy focuses on acquiring and managing real estate assets, particularly through the creation and financing of Leasehold Estates on 99-year ground leases and the resulting Leased Fee Estates in the underlying land. This approach allows The Shidler Group to provide passive investment opportunities with conservative yields while granting active multifamily owner-operators the potential for higher returns.

In addition to its investment activities, The Shidler Group is committed to philanthropy. To date, Mr. Shidler has donated $2.1 billion of Ground Lease-generated income streams to public colleges and universities, including the University of Washington School of Law, the University of Washington School of Medicine, the University of Hawaiʻi Foundation, and the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
