Theodorus IV

Theodorus IV is an early-stage venture capital fund focusing on life sciences and deep tech investments in Belgium and Québec. The fund was launched in October 2018 with a commitment to invest between €500,000 and €2.5 million in approximately twenty companies over five years. Theodorus IV primarily targets seed and early-stage biotech, medtech, digital, and engineering applications, with a particular emphasis on spin-offs from the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB).

The fund's strategy involves providing financial support to innovative projects with high growth potential, aiming for rapid international expansion and mid-term exits. Theodorus IV offers its portfolio companies access to a strong network of independent and international experts, advisors, and C-level executives. With over €70 million under management across four funds, Theodorus has invested in more than 40 companies, leading to the creation of over 600 jobs as of the end of 2019.

In addition to its activities in Belgium, Theodorus IV has expanded its presence in North America by welcoming Québec investors. This expansion enables Belgian spin-offs to accelerate their growth in North America and export their innovations, while Québec-based companies can access the Belgian and European markets. The fund's commitment to supporting state-of-the-art local research and entrepreneurs aligns with its mission to maximize the value of research and foster the development of disruptive companies.
