University of Wisconsin Foundation

Established in 1945, the University of Wisconsin Foundation is a private, nonprofit corporation that serves as the official fundraising and gift-receiving organization for the University of Wisconsin–Madison. Governed by a board of UW–Madison alumni and donors, the Foundation's mission is to encourage individuals and organizations to make gifts and grants to the university. These contributions support various campus priorities, including scholarships, building projects, research efforts, and initiatives of specific schools, colleges, and programs. The Foundation works closely with university administrators, faculty, and staff to understand and fund university priorities, fostering strong relationships between the campus community and its supporters. In 2014, the Foundation merged with the Wisconsin Alumni Association, combining their efforts to enhance UW–Madison's status as a world-class university. Each year, the Foundation transfers gift and investment income to UW–Madison, ensuring that private support continues to play a vital role in the university's mission of teaching, research, and public service. The Foundation also engages in comprehensive fundraising campaigns, such as the 'All Ways Forward' campaign, which aims to raise funds for student support, faculty excellence, and research and innovation. Through these efforts, the Foundation contributes significantly to the university's growth and success, impacting students, faculty, and the broader community.
