Wasserstein & Co. is an independent private equity firm and the family office of the late Mr. Bruce Wasserstein, with offices in New York and Los Angeles. The firm was formed in January 2001 when the merchant banking group of Wasserstein Perella & Co., Inc., a global investment banking firm, spun out to become an independent entity upon the acquisition of Wasserstein Perella by Dresdner Bank. Wasserstein & Co. manages capital on behalf of the Wasserstein family and leading institutional and individual investors, including public and corporate pension funds, foreign governmental entities, endowments, foundations, and high-net-worth families.

The firm's investment activities are conducted through two entities: Wasserstein Partners, which focuses on mid-market leveraged buyout investments, and Wasserstein Debt Opportunities, which specializes in high-yield bonds and leveraged loans.
