Yield Uganda Investment Fund

Yield Uganda Investment Fund is a private equity fund established in January 2017 with commitments of €12 million, anchored by €10 million from the European Union (EU) through the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and €2 million committed by the National Social Security Fund Uganda (NSSF). The fund offers innovative financial products such as equity, semi-equity, and debt funding to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Uganda's agribusiness sector, aiming to generate both strong financial returns and significant social impact. Managed by Pearl Capital Partners Uganda, the fund targets investments ranging from €250,000 to €2 million (approximately UGX 1 billion to UGX 8.5 billion).

The fund focuses on agriculture-related businesses across all value chains, including the supply of agricultural inputs, production and agro-processing within all sub-sectors, post-harvest storage and distribution, as well as peripheral activities such as transportation, communications, and certification. By providing capital and business development support, Yield Uganda Investment Fund seeks to improve the livelihoods of over 100,000 rural households through enhanced access to markets, higher quality agricultural inputs and services, job creation, food security, and income generation, thereby contributing to Uganda's economic growth and poverty eradication goals.

Since its inception, the fund has made several investments in Ugandan agribusinesses, including:

- **Sesaco Limited**: An agro-processing company specializing in soy-based products, with an investment of UGX 1.6 billion (approximately $4.31 million) in 2018.

- **Central Coffee Farmers Association Ltd (CECOFA)**: A coffee processor, with an investment of UGX 5.14 billion in 2018.

- **Chemiphar Uganda Limited**: An internationally accredited analytical laboratory providing testing and inspection services to SMEs, with an investment of UGX 1.3 billion in 2019.

- **Raintree Farms Limited**: An agri-business specializing in the production and processing of organic moringa, with an investment of UGX 3.9 billion in 2019.

- **Clarke Farm Ltd**: A company producing fine specialty washed Robusta coffee, with an investment of $1.5 million in 2019.

- **NASECO (1996) Limited**: A seed production company, with an investment of UGX 4.6 billion in 2020.

- **Pura Organic Agro Tech Ltd**: A company involved in cassava processing and value addition, with an investment in 2021.

- **Sausage King**: A meat processing company specializing in beef, poultry, and pork products, with an investment in 2021.

- **Enimiro Uganda**: A company connecting smallholder farmers to international markets for organic products, with an investment in 2022.

- **Kamp Feed Uganda**: A company involved in animal feed production, with an investment of $2.6 million in 2022.

- **Newman Foods Ltd**: An agro-processing company producing branded consumer foods, with an investment in 2022.

Through these investments, Yield Uganda Investment Fund continues to support the growth and development of Uganda's agribusiness sector, fostering economic prosperity and improving the livelihoods of smallholder farmers across the country.
